Preventative Health and Well-Being Care

We plan on being there for all stages of your pet’s life. Starting with puppy and kitten examinations, we’ll make sure your pet is always on the right track. This includes:

  • Vaccinations that are personalized for your pet’s needs.
  • Flea, tick, and heartworm prevention and education.
  • Nutritional counseling
  • Behavioral guidance

Included in our wellness care is a full nose-to-tail examination annually, and semi-annually for senior pets.

Senior Wellness
As our pets age, their needs change. We want to make sure that your senior pet’s care is being kept up with. Since dogs and cats age much faster than we do, we’d prefer to see them at least twice a year. This preventative care includes:

  • Detecting early stage diseases
  • Nutrition and weight management
  • Pain management
Complete Laboratory Analysis
We offer a wide array of diagnostic laboratory tests available within our clinic or through our local reference lab. Some of these tests include:

  • Blood analysis
  • Urine analysis
  • Fecal analysis

We’re committed to providing efficient and accurate results for the benefit of your pet thanks to our extensive laboratory capabilities.

Dentistry
Oral health is a very important part of your pet’s overall well-being. Not only is dental disease painful for your pet, but it is a chronic source of infection that your pet’s immune system has to work hard to control. If your pet has bad breath, chances are he has an infection in his mouth.

At Finan Animal Hospital we will evaluate your pet’s oral health and make recommendations for the best course of action. Often this will involve a full oral exam under general anesthesia. During this oral evaluation, we will take digital radiographs of every tooth. The radiographs will be evaluated for signs of infection, fractures, or bone loss. If infected or painful teeth are seen on X-rays, the tooth will be extracted at that time. The remaining teeth will be scaled and polished. The full oral cavity will be checked for growths or signs of oral cancer.

Laser Therapy
Laser therapy is a safe and effective therapy that is FDA-cleared for the following physiological and biological effects:

  • Temporary relief of pain and reduction of inflammation associated with arthritis and muscle pain.
  • Provides pain relief and promotes blood flow.
  • Accelerated tissue repair and cell growth.
  • Faster wound healing is effective on open wounds, scars, and burns.
  • Improved nerve function.
Microchipping
According to PetFinder, over 10 million pets go missing every year, and one in three pets will go missing at some point in their life.

A microchip is a tiny device that contains unique identifying information about a pet. It is approximately the size of a grain of rice and contains a code that corresponds to the contact information of the pet cat or dog’s owner. This allows missing cats/dogs to be returned to their rightful home as quickly as possible.

It is one of the simplest ways to protect your pet in case they ever get lost.

Disease Management
When your pet is coping with a chronic ailment, we’ll work hard to make sure that these diseases are managed properly so that their quality of life is not affected. Some of the conditions we care for include but are not limited to:

  • Diabetes
  • Allergies
  • Arthritis
  • Heart Disease
  • Kidney Disease
  • Thyroid Disease
End of Life Services

We know how difficult it is to say goodbye to a family pet because we’ve been in your shoes. Our Fear-Free Practice is committed to making our patients’ last moments quiet, calm, and comfortable while supporting you and your family through the process.

Digital Diagnostic Imaging
To better visualize your pet’s bony structures and two-dimensional views of internal organs, we offer digital X-rays. Our technicians are specially trained to precisely position and acquire X-rays in a timely manner. This means faster results and less stress for your pet.

Ultrasonography is a diagnostic imaging technique similar to radiography (X-rays) and is usually used in conjunction with radiography. This technology offers our veterinary team visualization of the deep structures within the body.

Ultrasound allows for the examination of the animal’s internal organs. It can also be used to determine pregnancy and to monitor an ongoing pregnancy. Ultrasound can detect fluid, cysts, tumors, or abscesses within the abdominal cavity.

Pharmacy And Prescription Foods
We maintain a large inventory of medications and prescription diets to make sure your pet is supported in their current lifestyle. We also have a convenient online pharmacy that will ship right to your home! Click here to check it out.
Surgery
Our highly skilled doctors are not only well-versed in performing spays and neuters but various other soft tissue surgeries as well. Be it a routine or unexpected procedure, you can have confidence in knowing your pet will be given exceptional care before, during, and after. Your pet will receive:

  • Preanesthetic blood work
  • Intravenous catheter and fluids
  • Sterile surgical suite
  • Dedicated staff monitoring vitals
  • Pain medication

At discharge following any surgical procedure, one of our technicians will review post-operative care instructions with you to make sure your pet recuperates as comfortably and painlessly as possible. We’ll even call you the very next day to make sure they are doing well and to address any questions or concerns you may have.
